An existing Victorian townhouse in much need of modernisation, the proposed scheme consists of a complete renovation of existing ‘room in the roof’ accommodation. The upgrade utilises high levels of insulation and acoustic attenuation to provide a master bedroom and en suite for todays needs whilst retaining the character of the house.
Existing poorly maintained rooflights and windows are to be replaced by new triple glazed units with timber framed surrounds and underfloor heating is to be installed to bring what was unusable accommodation up to modern standards of comfort.
Materials used are to be of a high standard and contemporary in nature. Vinyl flooring and shadow gap skirtings provide a modern twist to an otherwise traditional design. Victorian details are incorporated to give the scheme an aesthetic rooted in the history of the remaining house. The colour palette adopts off whites, creams and dark rich tones proliferated during the Victorian period.
